Navi Mumbai International Airport strengthens its aviation infrastructure with TajSATS flight kitchen, serving 40+ flights daily and scalable to 15,000 meals.
Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is strengthening its aviation infrastructure as it expands its airline network ahead of the Winter Schedule 2026–27, which will run from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
As airline operations and passenger traffic grow, NMIA’s dedicated flight kitchen, operated by TajSATS, one of India’s leading aviation catering companies, is fully equipped to support the increasing catering requirements of both domestic and international airlines.
Located within the airport precinct, the facility currently serves more than 40 departing flights a day and has the capacity to produce up to 7,500 meals daily. The facility can be scaled up to 15,000 meals per day as flight movements and passenger volumes increase.
Supporting NMIA’s Growing Airline Network
Mr. Subhash Murikenchery, Chief Airport Officer, Navi Mumbai International Airport, said the airport’s supporting infrastructure is being developed in line with the expansion of its airline network.
“As NMIA expands its airline network, it is important that our supporting infrastructure grows with it. The TajSATS flight kitchen gives airlines the flexibility to meet rising demand and enhances the culinary experience for passengers.”
The facility combines scalable production infrastructure, modern refrigeration systems and streamlined operational processes, enabling it to respond efficiently to changing airline schedules and passenger demand.
Its location within the airport precinct also provides an operational advantage by enabling the efficient delivery and uplift of meals directly to departing aircraft.
Catering Support for International Airlines
The TajSATS facility is also positioned to support international carriers operating from Navi Mumbai. Its local meal-uplift capability provides airlines with an additional option to manage catering requirements closer to their point of departure.
According to NMIA, approximately 40% of international carriers operating from India rely on back catering from their own flight kitchens. The airport’s inflight catering infrastructure has been designed to accommodate this requirement while also supporting the growing needs of domestic airlines.
Built to Scale With Passenger Growth
The TajSATS flight kitchen offers airlines a range of capabilities, including:
- Production capacity of 7,500 meals per day, scalable to 15,000 meals.
- Catering services for both domestic and international airlines.
- Local meal-uplift capabilities for international carriers.
- Strategic location within the airport precinct for faster and more efficient aircraft servicing.
- Catering for diverse dietary requirements, including special meals, allergen-sensitive menus and halal meals.
- Modern refrigeration, storage and production systems designed to maintain food quality and consistency.
Strong Focus on Food Safety and Quality
Food safety and quality remain key priorities at the facility. The kitchen follows stringent food safety and quality standards, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), ISO 22000 and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) requirements.
Comprehensive quality-control procedures cover the entire catering cycle—from food preparation and handling to storage and dispatch. These processes are designed to ensure that meals supplied to airlines meet consistent standards of hygiene, freshness, safety and quality.
TajSATS brings more than four decades of experience in aviation catering and also operates the flight kitchen at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai.
NMIA Prepares for the Next Phase of Growth
With its dedicated flight kitchen already operational and designed to scale with demand, Navi Mumbai International Airport is building the supporting infrastructure required for the next phase of airline connectivity and passenger growth.
The facility is expected to play an important role in supporting NMIA’s expanding domestic and international network while providing airlines with greater flexibility in managing their inflight catering requirements.
