India will host the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in New Delhi from November 2–5. PM Modi will inaugurate the event, bringing together three major international clean energy forums.
New Delhi: India will host the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRE Summit & Expo) 2026 in New Delhi from November 2 to 5, bringing together three major international renewable energy events on a single platform for the first time.
Announcing the event at its curtain raiser on Thursday, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said the summit would combine the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026, the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly, and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit, Joshi announced. He said the Prime Minister’s participation reflects India’s commitment to renewable energy as a key pillar of its vision of Viksit Bharat and its contribution to global sustainable development.
The four-day event is expected to provide a major platform for policymakers, industry leaders, investors, technology providers and international stakeholders to discuss the future of clean energy, emerging technologies and investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Three Major International Events Under One Platform
The decision to bring three major events together is expected to strengthen the summit’s international profile and encourage greater cooperation on renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.
The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo will focus on India’s renewable energy ecosystem, including opportunities for investment, technological innovation and the expansion of clean energy infrastructure.
The 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly will provide a platform for participating countries to discuss solar energy deployment, international cooperation and ways to accelerate the adoption of solar power, particularly in developing economies.
Meanwhile, the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen will focus on developments in green hydrogen technologies, industrial applications, investment opportunities and the role of hydrogen in reducing carbon emissions across hard-to-abate sectors.
By bringing these three events together, India aims to create a common platform for discussions on solar energy, green hydrogen and the broader clean energy transition.
Renewable Energy a Key Pillar of Viksit Bharat
India has been expanding its renewable energy capacity as part of its efforts to meet rising electricity demand while advancing energy security and environmental sustainability.
Solar and wind power have emerged as important components of the country’s energy transition. At the same time, the government is encouraging the development of green hydrogen, energy storage, domestic manufacturing and modern power infrastructure.
The renewable energy sector is also creating opportunities across project development, equipment manufacturing, transmission infrastructure and emerging clean energy technologies.
The summit is expected to highlight how investment, innovation and international partnerships can help India scale up renewable energy deployment and strengthen its position in the global clean energy ecosystem.
Focus on Green Hydrogen and Clean Energy Investment
Green hydrogen is gaining importance as a potential alternative to fossil fuels in sectors such as steel, fertilisers, refining and heavy transport. Its wider adoption, however, will depend on reducing production costs, expanding renewable electricity supply and developing transportation and storage infrastructure.
The International Conference on Green Hydrogen is expected to bring these issues into focus, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss technological progress, commercial applications and the development of a competitive green hydrogen ecosystem.
Similarly, the International Solar Alliance Assembly will highlight the importance of international collaboration in mobilising finance, improving access to solar technologies and accelerating the deployment of solar power.
India’s Role in Global Energy Transition
The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 comes at a time when countries worldwide are looking to diversify their energy sources, reduce emissions and strengthen energy security.
India’s approach combines renewable energy expansion with efforts to develop domestic manufacturing capabilities, attract investment and support emerging clean energy technologies.
The participation of the Prime Minister and the integration of three major international events are expected to underline the importance India attaches to renewable energy in its long-term development strategy.
Scheduled for November 2–5 in New Delhi, the summit will bring the spotlight on India’s clean energy ambitions and its efforts to contribute to global sustainable development through international cooperation, innovation and investment.
