ONGC incorporates OPML with MRPL and OPaL to strengthen petrochemical marketing and trading, improve supply chain efficiency and expand market access.
New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its petrochemicals business with the incorporation of ONGC Petrochemicals Marketing Limited (OPML) on October 7, 2026. The new entity aims to create an integrated platform for the marketing and trading of petrochemicals, chemicals and allied products, supporting India’s expanding manufacturing and industrial sectors.
Established as a joint venture involving ONGC, ONGC Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) and ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL), OPML brings together the complementary capabilities of the three organisations under a dedicated marketing and trading platform.
With a combined product portfolio exceeding 2 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and an extensive nationwide marketing network, OPML aims to improve market access, enhance supply chain efficiency and provide a more seamless customer experience.
OPML to Strengthen India’s Petrochemical Value Chain
The incorporation of OPML reflects ONGC Group’s broader strategy to strengthen integration across the petrochemical value chain. By consolidating marketing and trading capabilities, the new venture is expected to facilitate better coordination among participating companies and improve the reach of their products across domestic markets.
Petrochemicals and chemicals are essential inputs for a wide range of industries, including plastics, packaging, automobiles, textiles, construction and manufacturing. A dedicated marketing platform could help streamline product distribution and strengthen connections between producers and industrial consumers.
The initiative also aligns with India’s growing demand for petrochemical products as the country expands its manufacturing capacity and industrial base.
Focus on Market Access and Supply Chain Efficiency
OPML aims to leverage the combined product portfolio and distribution capabilities of its parent organisations to build a stronger market presence. An integrated approach to marketing and trading can help improve coordination, enhance customer engagement and create opportunities for more efficient product movement across the supply chain.
For industrial customers, a unified platform could offer improved access to a broader range of petrochemical and chemical products. The venture also provides an opportunity for the participating companies to combine their strengths and develop a more coordinated approach to market requirements.
ONGC Group’s Vision for Sustainable Growth
The launch of OPML marks another step in ONGC Group’s efforts to build a more integrated and future-ready petrochemicals business. By bringing together three enterprises under a shared vision, the group aims to unlock operational synergies, strengthen commercial capabilities and create sustainable long-term value.
As India’s manufacturing and industrial sectors continue to expand, an efficient petrochemical marketing ecosystem will remain important for supporting downstream industries and meeting evolving customer requirements.
With OPML, ONGC and its joint venture partners are seeking to establish a stronger foundation for collaboration, innovation and growth across India’s petrochemical market.
